In Excel 2003 or below, click Tools » Add-Ins. On the Add-Ins dialog, click Browse. In the window that opens, navigate to your @RISK installation folder. The most likely location is C: Program Files Palisade or C: Program Files (x86) Palisade, but it's possible that the Palisade software is installed elsewhere. DEP settings via EMET or another system tool can be a problem, even if wmic returns the desired value of 2.
To test for this problem, download and run the attached program, StatusOfDataExecutionPrevention.exe. Any result is fine, except for Data Execution Prevention = On with ATL Thunk Emulation = Off. That result indicates settings incompatible with our software. The bcdedit command in should have fixed this.
If it did not, then DEP has been set via a policy independent of the Windows settings, most likely via the EMET tool. The possible DEP policies in EMET are similar to the Windows policies. If DEP is set to 'Always On' in EMET, Palisade software will not run, just like with the Windows AlwaysOn policy ( wmic value 1). However, EMET's 'Application Opt Out' policy is different from the Windows OptOut policy ( wmic value 3).
Both of them turn DEP on for processes that are not on the list of exceptions. The difference lies in how they handle 'ATL Thunk Emulation', which breaks Palisade software if set to off. The Windows OptOut policy doesn't turn ATL Thunk Emulation off, but EMET's 'Application Opt Out' does turn ATL Thunk Emulation off on Windows 8.1 and higher. Therefore, if DEP is set via EMET, and the EMET policy needs to be set to 'Application Opt Out' for some reason, you will need to add some Palisade processes to the list of exceptions. You can find these processes in subfolders under your Palisade install folder, which by default is C: Program Files (x86) Palisade or C: Program Files Palisade.
Under Palisade, look at the folder for each of your installed products, such as RISK7 or StatTools6. You want to disable DEP for each 'OutOfProcess' executable file in each product folder. If you have the DecisionTools Suite, look in the folders for all the components: BigPicture (DecisionTools Suite 7 only), Evolver, NeuralTools, PrecisionTree, RISK, StatTools, and TopRank. PaaS or IaaS with PCR Applies to: Palisade Custom Runtime Is the Palisade Custom Runtime compatible with PaaS and IaaS? Yes, PCR is compatible with PaaS (Platform as a Service) and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) solutions. But note that PCR will only work if the operating system used with PaaS or IaaS is Windows. As always, we recommend testing in your specific target environment, early on in the development process. Last edited: 2016-03-29 4. Optional Components.
@RISK Libraries can be on your local computer, remote computers, or a mix. If you want to create and use libraries on your local computer, you must have compatible SQL server software installed. If you want to create and use libraries on a server or another computer, your local computer needs SQL server or SQL client software.
The remote computer that hosts the databases must have compatible SQL server software and the operating system must be a Windows Server edition. (See also.) Any Microsoft SQL Server software 2005 or later, including the free Server Express, will work with @RISK 6.2 and newer.
On 32-bit Windows, you will install 32-bit SQL. On 64-bit Windows, we have seen 32-bit or 64-bit SQL work with @RISK in 32-bit or 64-bit Excel. Here are some of your options:.
SQL Server 2012 Express: See. SQL Server 2008 Express: See, but ignore the Backward Compatibility patch. SQL Native Client 9.0, 10.0, or 11.0 (if all of your @RISK Library databases will be on remote computers): See. SQL with @RISK 6.1 and earlier.
